Course Description

This course contains content that is Quebec-specific.

Canada’s federal policy to assimilate indigenous people through the day school and residential board school experience is one of the darkest chapters in Crown-Indigenous relations and history.

While there are numerous sources of information, this short course provides a glimpse into the Inuit experience.

In this course we will provide an overview of the residential school experience for Inuit, with the direct account from Peter Irniq, Elder and Cultural Advisor to his participating as national Inuit representative for the historic Federal apology.
