Course Content

This course content includes the following topics:

  1. Creating a culture of food safety (i.e., FATTOM)
  2. The causes of foodborne illness
  3. Microbes and foodborne illness
  4. Food safety plans and HACCP
  5. Handling, receiving, preparing and storing food
  6. Cleaning, sanitizing and pest control
  7. Premise requirements

The course includes an exam, a course evaluation and certificate of completion.

Course Description

Ilinniapaa is an approved invigilator of the BC FoodSafe Level 1 food handling course and exam.

This certificate is valid for 5 years and is key for anyone receiving, preparing, storing or serving food during workplace activities including commercial kitchens, cafeterias, lunch programs, catering, refreshments for gatherings, etc.

Participants will receive a participant and activity workbook. Certification after a 70% pass rate is provided by the Province of BC and is mailed to the participant.
