Course Content

This course content includes the following topics:

  1. Learning about being an outreach worker, including the competencies and qualifications for being on an outreach team
  2. Learning the academic credentials required to become an outreach worker and how the recruitment process works
  3. Learning about the training requirements for becoming a staff outreach team member
  4. Learning pre-placement competencies and training and orientation procedures for newly hired outreach worker
  5. Learning what to expect on the first day of work
  6. Learning how to avoid burnout on the job and balance your life, your work, and your compassion
  7. Learning how to interact with various service agencies(including law enforcement, and medical personnel) and act as an advocate for your clients
  8. Learning how to be effective as a team engaging your clients on the streets

The course includes a quiz, a course evaluation and certificate of completion.

Course Description

This course contains content that is Quebec-specific.

In this course we delve into the process of street outreach work and highlight the key competency-based training and professional approaches when working with street-affected individuals.
